Left: This photo popped up in my Facebook memories, me, as a stripper. I think I was 20?
Right: Me, an Ontario lawyer, just called to the Alberta bar.

Jon is such a good ally.
He has been one of the kind and helpful people here. Give him a follow!
Ps. He was one of the counsel who help with prep for the

I suspect there are many stellar law students who are spending their days not getting calls back for in-person interviews. Fear not! There are so many jobs in which you can thrive. But may I make a few suggestions for your c.v. should you be applying to smaller firms?
@ClaOntario recent call conf tomorrow!
ICYMI: new paper from me on statutory interpretation in Canada and the proper use of purpose. I analyze recent SCC cases where the Court emphasized that purpose cannot override text.https://twitter.com/MarkPMancini/status/1451302256620425216 …
My takeaway is more general, and it is this: people who go on social media to complain about their therapy patients, individually or collectively, should not be doing therapy. Same with career coaches, lawyers, dentists, etc.
There are a whopping seven (7!) reported decisions on CanLII, and none at the appellate level, that contain these four search terms: "wilful misconduct" "288/01" "just cause" "wrongful dismissal" Guess how many cases there are if you remove "wilful misconduct"?
I’m writing up a story that is so Thunder Bay I’ve been laughing at parts of it all afternoon. Stay tuned.
I never did OCIs (nor did I article). I still got a job that started when I got called and 5 years in I am very happy with how my career has turned out. Thanks to opportunities with smaller firms, I have had my own clients and managed my own practice from the beginning. 1/2
Hey! I didn't do OCI's. I landed on my feet. Eventually started working at a place called "Chugh Law." My boss is cool, she drinks Sunny D, not just the purple stuff.
@KerriTwigg’s workshops and book for helping with my resume and interview skills, which are always a work in progress.
I have a wide and varied practice. I get to pick the files I work on and the people I get to work with.
Some amazing students. Two working with me now
@SaranDhindsa and @amandadoeslaw! And many more since 2020.
I then was able to work at Hydro One the following summer and received an offer for articles. I articled and soon, legal counsel. It was great experience and now I am on my own. It’s scary.
I also worked with Indigenous youth out west my first year. One of those youth later became a mentor in the same program I was working. He thanked me for encouraging him to apply to college. He thought he was old (he was 21) but he saw me studying for my failed torts exam at 27.
I didn’t do well w OCIs. I think I may have some interviews somewhere at some point in Ottawa and Toronto. I failed miserably. I laugh at some of the things and also for calling interviewers’ BS.
If you are only talking to me because you want me to talk about my experiences selling and trading sex… Scram.

Now: SCOTUS will leave Texas's six-week abortion ban in place for now as the justices consider whether DOJ and abortion providers can sue over the law at all. Arguments are set for Nov. 1.https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetillman/supreme-court-texas-abortion …
